As long as we have been aware, Omaha has been a black hole for our kind, a Roach Motel where licks move in but they don't move out. The rumors are pervasive: old, cunning vampires who have been able to traverse the expanses of the globe and return with pictures and funny anectdotes have gone to Omaha and never been heard from again. A friend of a friend came to Omaha to visit once and the only thing we ever heard was a strange voice-mail she left where she was gibbering about something horrible and the hungry darkness coming to get her. Entire Invictus courts have gone there to establish their hold on the territory and to beat the superstitious rumors back into the primordial darkness where they spawned, only to be swallowed whole by the City of Shadows. The strangest and most daring Mekhet won't even go to Omaha for fear of the secrets they've discovered.
We've all heard the stories, the same with the Bermuda Triangle and Area 51, but here we are, in Omaha. Some of us were sent here by our clans and covenants to find out what's going on. Some of us came here to escape, knowing no one would follow us here. And some of us are braver than smart and came here to conquer and control.
We all have our reasons, we all have our plans. But now that we're here, we can tell there's something very very wrong about the city. The usual sorts of markings that one finds in an inhabited city from our kind and the other creatures of myth are sparse and very old. We were alone when we showed up, there were no other macabre dancers, no wolves, no wizards, nothing out of the ordinary. The city just seems.... Pleasant. But around the edges the shadows are too deep, and the Beast tells us to keep our guard up. What could scare the perfect predator? What could possibly scare an Immortal?
